Couple of updates

Right - A couple of updates for you...

The block, crank, pistons and new caps and bolts have gone off to the machine shop;

The crank is being checked and wedged, bladed and balanced

The rods are being shot peened and balanced end over end

The pistons are having to have an extra 3cc taken out as by my calcs I would have ended up with about 14:1 compression which is not good...

The block is being bored to 73.5mm, I have a new set of caps and ARP studs from Swiftune which will then be line bored to fit. Then the oil and water holes will be blocked and new ones drilled for the BMW head

I also have a new crank damper from Swiftune as well...

I forgot to take the rod bolts up so they have gone up in the post.

I have also fitted the GRP front end (only taken me 3 years!) I will get some photos tomorrow but it looks ok from my point of view, Its not as bad as Garys Gaps ;-)

I will have to pull the engine over the next couple of days so that I can get the flywheel off - every peice of the bottom end will be balanced independently and then the whole unit *should* be ok but then you have the option of balancing the whole shooting match in one go. We shall see, I'm a bit skint so can't afford to buy a new one.

I'll take some photos tomorrow and update the blog and flickr
