And so, its started...

The first set of bits turned up today (well, during the week but I could not pick them up!). The head is ordered and it being worked on and converted, should be here on the 8th August. Gary should be over on Monday with his new and shiny engine and the swap out date is the weekend of the 9th Aug.

Should be interesting as its also the weekend of the London Triathlon (some crazy sport thing that Rachel does) but hope that it should be a straight swap (famous last words...)

Once I have the old engine out I can start the stripdown; I neeed to get the block sent off to be cleaned and machined for the conversion and also to add a center strap.

I already have the pistons (Omega 73.5 with a cutout for the valves) which will go off to Camcote to be ceramic coated and generally sorted out. I must take some photos beforehand though...

I have a set of 625 rods, an ARP set and a Xdrilled crank awaiting pickup; they will get sent to Peter May to be balanced and in the case of the rods peened etc...

Its coming together!!

First box of bits...

Cam pulley set; looks like a normal set of Kent or derrivaties
Titan hiflow oil pump; the billet cover is my token attempt at *bling*
Trigger wheel; normal 36:1 toothed wheel, slightly better than my machined crank pulley from the original megasquirt setup that I did;)
Mmmmm sexy billet rams for the head!

Idlers
Left hand side is the head cover which the cams poke through - the bottom stub is for a breather/drain fitting. Right hand side is a bottom cover which the sits behind the idlers

Published by Keith Calver, basically aim for 100-107C. Max of 120C if decent oil is used...

Obviously measured in the sump which is an issue in the mini, not in the midget!
